How To Install .DLL Files In Windows


Have you experienced seeing a pop-up message in Windows like this "Error opening file, dllName.dll missing" when you try to open a program in your computer? This likely happens when two or more programs use the same .dll file and when you uninstall one of this programs the shared .dll file will also be remove from your system which will make other programs malfunctions.

That's where the error message will show when your try to open a program that uses the shared .dll that have been also remove when you uninstall a program.

Fortunately, there are many sites that offer free downloads of common .dll files that are missing to your system. You can use it to replace missing .dll files to your system. And installing it is an easy process.
  • Just download the specific .dll file and put it in your system32 within Windows folder (if compress just uncompress the .dll file you've downloaded)
  • Then go to Run command (Start>Run) and type the filename of the .dll file and click the OK button.
  • If the installation was successful, you should see a message saying that your file was successfully installed/uninstalled.
